SC and WE operate predominantly on FB now. The Ning site died a long time ago due to its oppressive nature. But there is 3 years worth of videos and photos archived there that need to be preserved. I’m honestly surprised that chat even exists in any form at Ning. Ning is old news, not to me but I’m sure it is a pox on their existence to have to maintain chat for the die hards in there. Die hards who have over the years been involved in a lot of correspondence with WEmanagement. Some people don’t understand this I think, that people have been trying to express, converse and communicate for three years through private emails with management. Nothing ever changes. When someone is willing to work for free 24/7 when money is tight, to oversee your websites and chat rooms it would be easy to allow them the freedom to do so based on their own personal ideals and ideas. This never should have been allowed to happen in the first place. A greater value should have been placed on viewership because without it WE wouldn’t be here NOW.
What I think is important to remember is that as much as we want to believe we are important to the future and vision of SC, we are not and likely never were considered as such no matter what we have been told or how we have felt. No matter how much work we did or how much marketing and promotion we did. Not our support or our money, we are pawns. And the game is someone's unrelenting vision of personal success.
There is this continued freedom given to 3 moderators to set the tone of the entire social network for them. NO educational background in public relations, social networking or marketing. No successful resume in business. Just an offer to work a FT job 24/7 for free. In 3 years not one new person has been allowed to join this team aside from a few hand selected friends as "assistant moderators" in chat. There has been continued freedom for some people to bash and demean certain subjects or people while others are suppressed at every turn. And just this small tidbit of thought shows the truth to anyone willing to set aside their personal need to self gratify with live drives and open their eyes.
Unfortunately this won’t happen; people want a guilt and conscience free experience. Something they can do that satisfies the self. And any outcry that claims to be rooted in some kind of stewardship for SC and WE, superior to that of those who speak an opposing view is merely seeking a way to boost their own egos, to climb the WEsocial ladder.
The joke in the end is this....there is nothing there at the top waiting for you! Many have been to the top of the mountain already. When they got back to the bottom they came here. I was told that they want to close this gap, this growing divide between viewers and each other and between viewers and management. All I see of late, the chat as an example is an effort to increase it. If you open your eyes and your mind and pay attention to these clues you would see the truth. I am sad for those currently who think they are so “valued”. You are in for a big let down.
